Selected applicants will be contacted for an interview. Some of those applicants will be scheduled for a Sunday audition to run the sound for a worship service. After completing the interview and audition, there will a follow up discussion where applicants can share their ideas and vision.

Job Description for Audio Visual Director

Travis Park Church is a progressive and historic Reconciling United Methodist Congregation, located in the heart of Downtown San Antonio Texas. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Audio-Visual Director to join our team and oversee all aspects of audio, visual, camera, and lighting technology to enhance our worship services and engage our congregation both in-person and online.

Successful candidates should bring experience and passion in researching technologies related to mixing, AV equipment, live streaming, lighting, and volunteer coordination. This position reports to the Director of Music and Worship.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Management:

  • Manage and maintain all audio, visual, and lighting equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and troubleshooting any technical issues.
  • Oversee equipment upgrades and purchases in line with the church’s budget and technological needs.

Sound Mixing:

  • Coordinate and manage audio setups for worship services, events, and special programs, ensuring high-quality sound production and acoustics.
  • Train and supervise volunteers responsible for sound operation during services.

Screen and Lyrics Management:

  • Oversee the display of lyrics, scriptures, and multimedia content on screens during worship services and events.
  • Coordinate with worship leaders and music teams to ensure accurate and timely display of lyrics and relevant visual elements.

Live Streaming and Video Production:

  • Lead the live streaming team to ensure seamless and engaging live broadcasts of church services and events.
  • Coordinate video production, including camera operation, editing, and post-production, to create compelling content for online platforms.

Lighting Management:

  • Design and implement lighting setups that enhance the atmosphere and experience during worship services, and events.
  • Train and supervise volunteers involved in lighting operation and design.

Volunteer Coordination:

  • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for audio, visual, and lighting teams, including screen and streaming volunteers, nurturing a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Provide mentorship, support, and ongoing training to volunteers to enhance their skills and performance.

Collaboration and Planning:

  • Collaborate with worship leaders, pastors, and event coordinator to understand and fulfill their audio-visual requirements for services and events.
  • Participate in planning meetings to contribute ideas and recommendations for improving the overall worship experience.

Providing Additional Support:

  • Support the needs and direction of the Director of Music and Worship.
  • Other duties, as may be needed and reasonably requested.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in audio, visual, and lighting management in a church or live event setting.
  • Proficient in operating and troubleshooting audio-visual equipment and software.
  • Strong knowledge of sound engineering principles, live streaming technologies, and video editing software.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, to support church events and services.

Pay for this position is $50/hour. ($200 for Sunday Mornings)
