Elusive Joy: A Service of Healing and Hope for Those Living with Loss
Grief is a love language. It’s one we’d prefer not to learn – but learn we must, as loss comes to all.  It is part of being alive. It is part of loving and being loved. It is part of investing ourselves into the world and being fully part of it. And, while each journey through loss and grief is without road map, or schedule, there is grace in the holy mystery of loss, and there is comfort in the company of others who are making a similar journey this Christmas season.

The service of worship will last less than an hour. At its conclusion, you may linger for prayer, or gather with others in our downstairs Fellowship Hall to create an ornament – a tangible item to hold close and remember. All necessary materials will be provided; however, if you would like to bring an object or an article of clothing you’ve not yet let go, bring them along. You will give them new shape and purpose as poems, favorite verses, memories, and thoughts are wrapped with love, laughter, and tears.

Please join us on Wednesday evening, December 21st at 6:00 pm for service and ritual of healing as we remember and discover again, the sacred presence of Christ with us, even and most especially, this year.

– Blessings, Pastor Cynthia Engstrom

Sponsored children and their parents will join us at Travis Park Church for a special Christmas party just for them with pictures with Santa, food, activities, crafts and more! We are looking for volunteers to help provide food and crafts for the children, as well as someone to play Santa. Please contact Juliette Clark if you would like to help fund or volunteer at the Angel Party.

Angel Gift Sponsorship

If you are able to sponsor a child or family with Christmas gifts for our Angel Party this Christmas please click the Signup Button and we will work to match you. You must fill out the form before November 30th. This year if you don’t have time to shop in stores, you can buy online and have it delivered to Velia Suarez (our Angel Party Coordinator), and a volunteer will wrap it.
