June Sybil Wright
July 26, 1969 – August 4, 2025

If you knew June Wright, you knew someone unforgettable. She had a way of making you feel instantly comfortable, like you’d been friends forever. She was kind, caring, generous, loving, thoughtful, and just the right amount of silly. She could make you laugh with her quick wit, keep you talking for hours, and had a knack for knowing exactly what a loved one needed.

June was born in San Antonio on July 26, 1969, and was adopted by loving parents, Mary and Allen Wright. Her first job was at a courthouse, but June’s real gift was people. She found her calling in customer service, where her warmth and humor shone. Eight years ago, she began working in the hotel industry, starting at the Marriott Courtyard in San Antonio.

In December of 2004, she met Dwayne Curtis. At first, they were just friends who shared many of the same interests and could talk for hours. Ten years later, friendship turned into a partnership full of love, laughter, and shared adventures. They loved music (especially Rush), went to concerts like Motley Crue and Alice Cooper, and shared an unforgettable trip to ComicCon. They were also proud “parents” to their cat Melin, who is surely keeping June company now.

June loved wrestling, could spend hours listening to music on her laptop, and had a heart big enough to hold everyone she cared about. She was unique, nurturing, and one-of-a-kind.

June was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Allen Wright. She leaves behind her partner, Dwayne, and a circle of friends who will carry her stories, her laughter, and her love forward.

A Celebration of Life and Resurrection will be held in June and Dwayne’s home church, Travis Park United Methodist Church, on Sunday, August 17, at 1:00 pm. All are welcome.

June’s story isn’t just in the years she lived, but in the way she made life brighter for everyone she met.
